Just googling to find the lyrics to that Lion Man song, when I saw he was convicted of beating up his girlfriend, has form from '91, as a wifebeater, and a couple of other things. And I thought it was such a nice show. So, as I couldn't find the lyrics, I wrote a new set:
Lion Man theme
(special version to celebrate the conviction of Craig Busch on two charges of assaulting his former partner Karen Greybrook in 2005)
From the semis of suburbia
His best friends they did come,
Hoping for a threesome with
The lions’ surrogate Mum.
One man found them naked
And got all hot and cross,
I guess it wasn’t clever
When your boyfriend is your boss
He’s the Lion Man
Driving out his former wo-man
To a women’s sanc-tu-a-ry far from home
He’s the Lion Man
With a series in the can,
Will the TV com-pa-ny still back his show?
With his scuzzy hippy pigtail
And his puggy, hangdog face,
You would think a violent wife-beater
Would be left deep in disgrace.
With filmclips of maltreatment
And keepers getting bit,
You’d think the Zion Centre
Would be mired deep in the sh*t.
But he’s the Lion Man
Pleasing every fan
A Kiwi vic-to-ry in the ratings war,
He’s the Lion Man
Doing what he can
Is he an animal, or just a bore?
He’s the Lion Man etc (repeat ad nauseum fading out over tribal drums)
